As we posted a couple of days ago, ELDER’s self-titled album will be released on vinyl in a couple of weeks through Electric Earth so we dropped Nick DiSalvo, vocalist/guitarist for the band, a line to see what’s been going on lately.

The Core: What do you think of the response to your first album?

Nick DiSalvo: The response to Elder has been great. It's definitely generated a bit more interest than I had anticipated and we've seen lots of cool reviews cropping up all over the place. We've got Meteorcity to thank for a lot of that, getting our name out there and everything.

The Core: Do you have any plans to tour beyond the north East?

Nick: No- not immediately, at least. But that doesn't mean we don't want to. On the contrary, I think we'd all jump at the chance to do anything from a full US tour to stuff internationally if it was feasible right now, but we're just lacking the time, money, and coordination to pull it off right now.

The Core: What’s going on in Massachusetts with all these amazing Doom bands?

Nick: Not a clue, but the scene here definitely does seem to have taken off within the past few years. Maybe there's something about MA conducive to the development of doom bands... or maybe we just got lucky. It's awesome to be able to play with bands we can really relate to after spending our first years together stuck on bills as the black sheep.

The Core: What’s behind the quote on your MySpace page, “Snitches…there aren’t many of them”?

Nick: Ha ha, how to explain that one. I don't even remember the context of the conversation anymore, but I think it was part of a friends' stepdad's drunken proclamation: "You know what they say about snitches- there aren't many of them!" There's going to be no real way to explain that quote satisfactorily.

The Core: Electric Earth will be distributing the album, but given that they are based in Europe, will a site like All That Is Heavy make it available for your fans in the U.S.?

Nick: Electric Earth is based in Belgium, but they've licensed the album through Meteorcity (All That Is Heavy's house label) so you can be sure it'll be available to order through that site. I doubt it'll make it to any bigger distros in the US though, so that might be the only outlet for it here.

The Core: What’s up next for ELDER?

Nick: Well, we've got some cool shows planned for this summer and we're trying to get a few more, including possibly a small tour with Black Pyramid, if we ever get off our asses and try to book something. I'm hoping to get recording on a new album within a month or two as well and get it all finished up by the end of the summer to start shopping it around to labels. So we'll be quite busy I believe!

Thanks Nick! Rock on brother!
